Sometimes it's hard not to develop resentments against certain East-European countries. First Bulgarians, then Romanians, and today seems to be Russian day:
In addition to our other Russian "friends" still pounding the site (from 66.246.218.107), we now see another Russian referrer-spamming from 217.79.57.130 for URLs like tctt.sbi.tusur.ru ("Tomsk Technology Transfer Center" - matches the whois information) but also domains related to drugs and poker.
On top of that, someone else is referrer-spamming for bracelets.2parimatch.com from 82.209.210.76 (somewhere in Belarus).
Both of our new "friends" only send HEAD requests, btw. Doesn't make it any better. The bracelet spammer is hammering the same URL (some old story from 2003) over and over again, while the guy from Tomsk prefers two specific discussions in the forums.
Why do these people think pounding the homepage of an open source project with referrer spam that nobody other than the site admin is ever going to see will make them money somehow? Yes, I realize, we're probably only "collateral damage". But still - has this world completely run out of common sense?
