Kudos to Bloghotel

Trackback spam has gone up sharply over the last couple of weeks. I can clearly identify 3 or 4 different sources but haven't had the time to look into them. On a whim, I sent off an abuse report to bloghotel.org for one particular spammer using www.bloghotel.org/norbert/ for the last couple of days (spamming for drugs and pills). Within 15 minutes, I received a reply that the user's account had been shut down. Good work, thank you! That will probably not stop "Norbert's" spambots from spamming for that URL for a while, but at least he won't profit from it any longer. Morale of the day: Send abuse reports, some people out there are actually listening.

Further kudos to freeyabb.com and bbfun.com for also quickly closing down accounts of the same spammer.

I'm going to post some more information about this particular drugs spammer, whom I've dubbed "Norbert" for now (for one of the URLs he was using). He's currently hopping from one free hosting service to the next. All his attempts are void, though, as long as you filter for the usual pill names. He seems to like "phentermine" particularly ...
