The disappearing site act

   

We got some referrer spam for a bunch of .info domains: bestestart.info, nieuwstracker.info, sitefeeder.info, startplaza.info, and webfavorieten.info. Those are all registered with Enom and use a Whois protection service.

The interesting bit is that none of those domains (with or without a leading "www.") resolves at the moment. So why spam for them? Also, I'm pretty sure they did resolve when I first noticed them yesterday or the day before, but got side-tracked and forgot all about them.

The referrer spam itself came from 3 IP addresses: 69.42.69.252 (Webair), 72.20.3.58 (Staminus Communications), and 212.64.48.176 (Wanadoo Netherlands). At least 2 of the domain names (nieuwstracker and webfavorieten) also hint at a Dutch origin. So let's see if they reappear ...
